On a whim I headed up to Winni for a quick overnight Thursday. Before retiring for the night I stepped out onto the deck overlooking Wolfeboro Bay. Was I glad! An otherwise silent night (it was rather late) was broken by the call of the loons. They were loud and frequent. The acoustics of the lake can be misleading but it sounded as though it came from the barndoor /varney islands. Ah Spring.
