This photo of a Smelt was taken this morning at Bradley's Hardware in Wolfeboro. They have over a thousand smelt, shiners, and suckers in preparation for this weekend's Meredith Rotary Fish Derby, January 30-31 2010. My two year old now calls it the aquarium. Smelt are a staple of the Lake Winnipesaukee ecosystem and a favorite bait among fishermen.
Bradley's is a full service home improvement and rental center and is now carrying live bait, tackle, and fishing gear. You can find them in downtown Wolfeboro on Railroad Ave. They offer great service and will be open at 4:30am for the derby.
